It may seem like ages away but it is normally around now we start to prepare for our Christmas Fair. This time round, however, we have had to stop and consider how the Fair would run with what we know about the health risks, associated requirements & restrictions we all face in relation to COVID-19.
It is with a heavy heart we have come to the decision that the FACE Christmas Fair will not take place this year.
For those of you who come along to the Fair each year you will know, for instance, it does not lend itself to social distancing. The wonderful atmosphere on the day is generated by a large crowd in a small area.
We have held our Christmas Fair in the Western General Hospital since 1995. The Fair is not just about raising funds for FACE. It is a great opportunity for everyone in FACE to get together. We welcome friends, families and supporters of all ages. The location allows oncology patients and hospital staff to come down and join us. We will really miss this.
Please can you let anyone who normally comes along or donates something for the Fair know it will not be held this year. We know this will be disappointing news for many but it will likely not come as a surprise.
Thanks to your support & kindness we will continue to look at ways that FACE can make a difference through this difficult time. We remain as positive as ever and look forward to meeting you all again in 2021.
Best wishes and stay safe.
